Our Process for Plastic Extrusion
Plastic Extrusion is the process of turning raw plastic into a molded continuous profile. Examples include sling spline, basket weaving profiles, and garage door guides. We can also use it to make PVC profiles for weatherstripping and custom work for residential applications.
The process is started when plastic pellets from a hopper are fed into the barrel of our extruder. As screws turn and heaters work along the barrel to produce mechanical energy, the plastic slowly melts. This melted plastic is then pushed into a die that shapes it and hardens.
If you’d like to know anything else about our plastic extrusion facility and our process, please feel free to reach out to us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will you extrude other products outside your current offering?
Of course! We are constantly expanding and growing our facility. Just reach out for a quote on your desired custom product and we can let you know what options are available.
Would you use other products outside of Polyethylene and PVC?
We do have the ability to use other products other than Polyethylene and PVC. We’ve invested in extruders that can handle almost any material.
Can you reuse a product that does not meet the specifications of the finished good?
In most cases, we are able to reuse a product that does not meet the specifications of a finished good. We are able to grind up scrap pieces and reuse that in our extrusion process to create a low-waste and reusable product.
Owned and Operated in Holmes County, Ohio
Before it was ever known as Berlin Plastics, our business was locally owned and operated in Holmes County, Ohio for over 30 years as Unique Plastics. It wasn’t until January 2022 that Berlin Gardens, LLC acquired the manufacturing facility and we became a division of their company. As specialists in the poly furniture industry, Berlin Gardens wanted to begin Berlin Plastics as a way of diversifying their company and establishing a base knowledge of the extrusion process.
